Long Time No...Write?

Sorry...I haven't posted anything all week. My life has been going 100 miles an hour this week..but today..I am settled and MUCH less stressed!

I wanted to say yay one more time for the Redskins beating Dallas and I wanted to also say...LET THE BASEBALL SEASON END. Sorry...I don't care about baseball and although its kind of cool being in a city where the team is awesome...I just don't care. End of story.

This week I babysat a LOT...made some good money but i wanted to offer something up for discussion....I am babysitting two kids for one family and I have an hourly rate for them. She asked if I'd be willing to sit for them while one of her kids had a playdate...meaning I'd be sitting for one more child. This happened BOTH days I was babysitting for them and it was a rare week because she had no school because of Rosh Hashannah. Anyway...the second day...the girl on the playdate was AWFUL and they did not play well together at all! It was awful...I fed them and tried to entertain them for two hours and both girls were out of control. Adding to this...the mother that droped off the girl said thank you to me and then went out to do god knows what. Then...two hours later...when she picked her up I kind of hinted that it was really awful and the mother asked her daughter what happened...and shes four so gave no answer and doesn't know anything because her brain is small...and anyway..the mother said "thanks" not even looking at me sincerely and left. I was FLOOOORREEEDDD. So I talked about this with the other mother I babysat for because she's kind of my best friend and is their neighbor...and she was annoyed.

Anyway...What do you think about babysitters for play dates. But first.. consider that I talked to the mother I work for about this when she got home and she felt AWFUL. BUt then...I got paid the same amount that I usually do when I JUST sit for her kids. But..I looked after two other kids that I don't even know. WOuld it be ethical for next time (even though I said I don't really want play dates anymore) to ask for more money? And wouldn't you...as a parent...offer to pay the babysitter at your daugher's play dates's house if you could pay her for playing and feeding your child? Just a thought.

Then...after a week of desperately searching for an event to cover....I got in touch with the people at Northeastern in the Latin American Student Organizsation. They had this AWESOME event last night...it was a Slam Poetry show with students in LASO and the Black organization there along with 3 professional Def Jam performers. It wass so cool and I got to go cover it with this TINY little Flip Cam...its the size of digital camera but its a video camera. Very cool. ANd I conducted two interviews with two AWESOME people...they gave the best answers and I am so happy I got in touch with them before last night. So...I will keep you posted how the video package goes...but after I went ot the event I had to RUSH back to Emerson...at around 745--upload all of my video files to the computer and return it to the EDC (place where we rent equipment out) last night because I would have gotten fined $125 for not returning it on Monday...because I would be babysitting. BUT...this assignment isn't due until next thursday so I'm really excited to write a good script and make this assignment a great one. It was such a cool story.

Anddd...last night Sarah and I went out with Caitlin and a bunch of her friends. It was good..there was some coors light deal going on...I didn't benefit from it because I was too late but I got a free corona sandal keychain. I love free things.

Today...the weather is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Its probably around 67 and its SUNNY:) Only the second weekend since I've been here that is isn't POURING! So...Sarah and I are gonna go walk around teh Charles River...its supposed to be really pretty and we haven't done it yet::)...well I haven't she got ENGAGED THERE! Yes..shes engaged and I love planning her wedding for her and then her proceeding to tell both me and her mother that it is not our wedding:) But its gonna be fabulous...I just know it.

Oh and...I have a LOT to say about the Debate on Thursday night but feel like I've already gone off the wall in this post...but quickly I will say...I thought Palin did a really really good job. I understand she had an entirely different tactic than Biden...butr eally...she had to. She had no chouce....with all of the scrutiny surrounding her interview with Katie Couric....She had to nail this debate and I think she did. Thats not to say that Biden didn't do a great job because he did too...but I was just very happy with how well Palin did.
And...I was in the elevator on Ffriday...after the debate and was again faced with the IGNORANCE of people. WHY DOES EVERYONE ASSUME THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS LIBERAL????? I DON"T GET IT! It doesn't make sense...these people in the elevator...and FULL elevator mind you....were bashing how Palin did in the debate and looking at me and everyone else in the elevator for the laugh/smirk/smile of approval! I'm sorry..but I'm not for bashing political leaders (even potential ones) I think its sick (and I know I've already talked about this but...its my blog:) that Americans BASH the leaders of our country. Its embarrasing and its RIDICULOUS that so many people ASSUME others are liberal just because they are. I am not going to make an entire generality but..I will quote something one of my good friends said that "A lot of Democrats aren't even open to seeing the other side" and I can COMPLETELY understand that A lot of Republicans are the same way and I'm not making an attack at all but...seriously? Why WHY WHY...is it ok to assume things on political stances?

WHERE WAS I WHEN IT BECAME SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO OPENLY DISCUSS POLITICAL VIEWS WITHOUT ANY CENSORSHIP? I don't believe in censorship really...but...come on...we all know that Assuming makes an A$$ out of you AND me:)

But for comedy...and I love comedy...even though I like Palin....this skit is just the funnies thing I've even seen.

morg, you should totally ask for more if you are watching more kids on a play date. just tell them that its hard to watch all of them at once and more money is better. because, if you dont, eventually they will tell you to watch a whole bday party for 20 kids and still pay you the same amount, when you really are doing lots of work. i can understand if it was a one time thing that you didnt know about, and it helps out the babysitter, but you should tell them that for the future, esp if its hard to watch her kids with the other kids, who are unruly! lol

and yea, i agree with you on the political views. i hate that people just assume you are something in a conversation, or openly talk about politics without knowing where the other person stands. its just rude. and americans are acting rude by disrespecting presidents, politicians and other government officials. you may not have to agrre with them, but you have to respect them. what is that showing our kids, if people are just talking down about others? what would happen if someone kept talking bad about them? im sure they would hate it, even if they try to do what they think is right. thats why i hate politics and choose not to be involved with it. its all corrupt and what not.

i try to focus on things that i can do to help the world, like volunteer etc. maybe after doing good work, i'll be able to figure what issues are important to me and then vote/donate $ and time accordingly.

plus im sick of the election all ready. can't it just be a 3 week campaign and then vote!? it'll make life so much simpler and less confusing. im glad im doin an absentee ballot because i'll just put my vote in the mail and then wipe my hands clean of it, and not have to pay attention til election day. haha, that sounds kinda ignorant but im just tired of the election.

wow i always write alot on the blog....hope you like my answers. please dont censor me! ;) lol.

You definitely have to ask for money upfront from the imposer. Since it was free the first time...she'll be back even though she thinks you were mean to her kid. Hit her with $10/hour/kid. Or if that doesn't work out, give the little tirant some chocolate Ex Lax. That'll cure the situation.
As I said in a previous posting...Mass. is the most liberal state behind Maryland. It's not hard to believe that most people think you hold their values and beliefs. Especially narcisstic, know-it-all, "I'm-smarter-than-you" liberals. If their dream comes true and Obama becomes President, I hope they won't mind paying their fair share bailing out the greedy crooks and theives in the banking and insurance industry and apologizing for the Democratic Congress oversite committees regulating those industries. (Wait...What?)
Just a final thought..."It's never as bad as it seems and people are sometimes dumber than they look."
