Because I dont...

This is my reason for NOT wanting to write any more stories for school for free. Because I don't. The cute little kids I babysit have taught me a lot over the past 8 months...mainly that...there doesn't always have to be a reason for something.

When I was struggling to play pretend with Caitlin yesterday-- she wanted me to turn around toward the street with my jumprope...(we were having a great time before the "pretend" started... I can't pretend)..... because of course my "students" were on the other side of me and Caitlins's were on the other side of her. I had been teaching her how to jump more than just once with the jumprope...she was getting pretty good but when it came to the pretend and we were now school teachers... we had to do it "the way I do it" meaning jump only once while saying "Children, do this." I think I did it twice as cars drove by looking at me like I was pathetic because they could tell this 5-year-old had all power over me... and I turned around to Caitlin who said to me "That's pretty good, but you should really try to jump just once." Meanwhile, I was trying to show her how fast I could jump and criss-cross the rope in front of me...and jump backwards. She thought it was awesome until it was impossible for her to do...in which case, HER way was better. Obviously.

Caitlin: Ok Morgan, turn back around.
Me: Why do you keep making me turn around? I came to jumprope with you
Caitlin: Well, it's just for pretend.
Me: Well, technically it's not pretend because you're still making me turn around... which is for real.
Caitlin: No no, it's just for pretend. It really is.
Me: Whatever Caitlin... (as we laugh and smile at each other...and of course, I reluctantly turn around sort of rolling my eyes at the pathetic human I have become...While continuing to ask....) Maybe soon we can jumprope together?
Caitlin: Yeah, but just not right now...I don't want to right now...let's just pretend for a little bit.
Me: Why don't you want to learn all the cool tricks I showed you?
Caitlin: Because I don't....

You Win...You Always Do....

This sounds eerily familiar. It's just been a really long time.

And, by the way, who took all those nice pictures of the Brown Bears in that torrential downpour and almost ruined his camera? He is quite an artist!
